The Cole Mountain Bakery and Cafe Story
Every great meal starts with a story, and ours begins just down the road at Cole Mountain Farm. Founded on the principles of sustainability and a deep love for the Berkshires, Cole Mountain Cafe and Bakery was born from a simple idea: that good food should bring people together and respect the land it comes from. The farm, along with other local producers, supplies fresh ingredients that the cafe turns into delicious meals, snacks, and baked goods.
Co-founders and husband-and-wife team Stephanie and Steve Melito create a welcoming neighborhood gathering place right here in North Adams, Massachusetts. Together, they transform fresh, local harvests into comforting breakfast classics, wholesome lunches, and an unforgettable lineup of scratch-made sweets.
Our Philosophy
What truly makes our kitchen special is our direct line to the fields. Steve supplies the café with many of its seasonal ingredients grown using natural, regenerative agricultural practices—completely free of chemical pesticides and synthetic fertilizers. Local producers supply other ingredients, so it’s a short trip from the fields to the table. Meanwhile, Stephanie turns the crops into delicious meals and baked goods.
